Lionheart joins Dogwood Forest Assisted Living Community for Senior Prom
By Carly Tucci, Lionheart WORKS participant
On May 5th, 2016 the sun was out on a beautiful, breezy spring day as the Lionheart students and residents of Dogwood Forest got together for the “Spring Fling” senior prom at Dogwood in Alpharetta. Lionheart WORKS participants decorated the tables with tissue flowers in vases and hung flower garlands. The 75-100 guests danced to music provided by Salt ‘n Pepper. The band was excellent. They had a high energy experience and played incredible dance music. The wheelchairs were gliding under hand-held bridges and spinning like the jitterbug. Refreshments were enjoyed by all. Egg salad sandwiches, and Lionheart’s homemade cookies filled the plates. It was a grand moment of the dance when Prince Hampton Sprinkle and Princess Carly Tucci, from Lionheart WORKS, crowned King Billy Dinsmore and Queen Virginia Mashburn. An added bonus was when Conor Godshall was crowned a new Prince of Dogwood Forest. Conor will be working in the Inspirations unit next year.
The annual prom has been held for 3 years. Dorothy Wickersham, an Activities Director, said, “I am floating on air. This spring fling prom was the best ever! Lionheart and Dogwood Forest getting together is a win-win.”
