The Lionheart Thanksgiving Feast will be held next week at Lionheart.
Carly Tuccis took some time last week and talked with Lionheart students and teachers about the Lionheart Feast and their Thanksgiving traditions.
Mary has attended six Lionheart feasts, and her favorite part is seeing the Lionheart family together. She described the room as looking like a fall festival with colorful tablecloths. She will spend this Thanksgiving in Boston with her husband Bob’s family. They have seen the Mayflower and Plymouth Plantation.
Jill’s favorite part of the Lionheart feast is when the families are all sitting together eating, talking, and laughing. She remembers the centerpieces that the students made. This year she will be with family in Hattiesburg, MS, and all her sisters and brothers will be together for the first time in five years. Their family tradition for dessert is pumpkin pie with homemade ice cream. She is especially thankful for her family’s health and that her son will be home for Thanksgiving before he leaves for Iraq with the Army.
Elise’s favorite part of the Lionheart meal is the turkey and pumpkin pie. A favorite memory is the cornbread. She is especially thankful for friends and family. Elise will spend Thanksgiving this year in Albany.
Max has attended two feasts, and his favorite part of the meal is the turkey. He remembers the room having a lot of food. His favorite memory is saying the blessing before the food. Max will be in Kansas City at his grandparents’ house for Thanksgiving.
Lauren’s favorite part of the feast is being with family. A favorite memory is taking pictures with Abigail. She remembered the pine cone turkeys that were decorations. Lauren is especially thankful for her new horse named Sophie.
Elizabeth has attended every Lionheart feast, and they have been held for more than 10 years. She said about 150 people attend. Her favorite food is the stuffing and the drumstick. A favorite memory is last year when Vance and Max shared a prayer before the lunch. She is especially thankful for the Lionheart students who are the best part of the school.
Marcus’ favorite part of the meal is the turkey. A favorite memory is that Amber was at the feast last year. He described the room as having lots of food and drinks and people there and lots of plates. He is thankful for the earth.
